Is Drinkist free?
Yes — free to download and use on iOS and Android. The free plan covers 30 drinks, 10 tastings, one AI label scan a day, and three Smart Picks (then one a week). Premium lifts every limit and adds the full stats screen and cloud sync.
What drinks can I track with Drinkist?
Everything you drink — wine, beer, cocktails, whisky and other spirits, plus coffee and tea. Organise them with built-in categories, custom collections, and tags that cut across all of them.
How does the AI label scanner work?
Point your camera at any label — or pick a photo from your gallery — and Drinkist identifies the drink and fills in the brand, type, vintage, ABV, and country of origin, and even drafts tasting notes. One more tap logs the tasting.
Can Drinkist tell me what to order?
Yes — that is Smart Pick. Photograph a menu, a shelf, or a row of bottles and Drinkist ranks what it can read against the tastings in your journal. It works on a wine list, a cocktail menu, or a fridge door, and it needs no venue database, so the bar does not have to be in anyone’s catalogue. Picks are AI-generated, so treat them as a starting point rather than a verdict.
How does Drinkist know my taste?
From what you log. Rate a handful of drinks you already recognise and set three dials — Intensity, Sweetness, and Adventure — and Smart Pick has somewhere to start. As you log real tastings, your own history takes over from the dials, so the picks shift as your taste does. You can retune the dials any time under "Tune your taste" in Settings.
What is the wishlist?
Drinks you want to try but have not yet — saved from a Smart Pick in one tap, or added by hand with a name, category, and ABV. They sit apart from My Drinks until you log that first tasting, which moves them across. Scan a bottle you saved earlier and Drinkist recognises it and offers to move it for you.
Does Drinkist work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Drinkist is on the App Store and Google Play, built from one codebase, and with Premium your journal stays in sync between iOS and Android.
Does my tasting history sync across devices?
With Premium, yes. Sign in with Apple or Google and your drinks, ratings, photos, notes, collections, and wishlist stay in sync on every device. On the free plan everything is saved on the phone you logged it on.
How is Drinkist different from Vivino or Untappd?
Vivino is built for wine and Untappd for beer, and both rank drinks by what strangers thought. Drinkist is one journal for everything you drink — wine, beer, spirits, cocktails, and coffee — and Smart Pick recommends from a menu you photograph using your own tasting history, not a crowd average.
